The theme for my projects throughout this semester is to focus around inspiring and working out. In my logo project I chose to focus on one thing, Nature. Nature is ever inspiring, as it is ever changing and adapting. Humans are the same in which we are always striving to be better and to do better in addition to adapting to events that occur in our lives. In light of this, many choose to recharge themselves by spending time outside or going to work out. I chose to focus on this for my logo protect and link these two ideas together by creating the slogan “Get Outside, Get Moving”.
In order to come up with this idea I chose to look at stickers that focused on the Pacific Northwest and the outdoors in general. This allowed me to come up with this idea and to translate it into a logo that fit with my topic. In order to form the idea of my logo, I did research. I looked at what makes a logo important and relevant and how it allows the company to shine through it. This is when I came up with the idea of “Get Outside, Get Moving”. I then focused on the idea of scalability, shape and color. In this I was able to execute my idea for the slogan and come up with a logo that matched it.
In order to create my logo, I made use of the Illustrator tutorials that we had previously learned. I specifically drew from the Pencil illustration and the Banner design tutorials. In order to create my logo, I made use of line segment tool and the type tool. I started my design by creating lines in order to make the diamond outline of my logo. I then created the lines at the bottom of the logo to make it have some texture and to make appear to seem as though there were paths or a ground of some sort. This allowed for perspective. I then created the mountain like outlines using the line segment tool again. I then implemented my slogan with the type tool. Once I was able to manipulate this in the area that I desired, I added a green colored gradient to all but the mountains in order to have the logo appear as close to a representation of nature as possible. I did the same for the bottom of the logo but then reversed the lines, so the color was inside the lined area. I did not receive much feedback beside the idea to get rid of a black dot that I had previously between the words “Get Outside”. In addition to changing this I edited the words and made them the same font. The only recommendation that I have to others is to give yourself time, as many mistakes can be made when rushing through Illustrator.
