My idea for this project was a one-time podcast or audio story time that would discuss the effect that one’s environment has on working out. I looked at this specifically through a college student and the effect of their environment on their physical activity.
This relates to my topic by discussing the idea that nature has an influence on someone’s drive to work out. Nature is an influence on one’s physical activity, this can have an effect when one is deprived of this aspect in their daily life.
The idea of a podcast had a great influence over my idea for my audio story. Podcasts have a very casual tone to them and thus I thought this would add an element of honesty into my audio story.
I have recently been listening to a wide variety of podcasts and thus have influenced my ideas for my audio story. The podcast gives an honest idea to the concept that nature has an effect on one’s will to engage in physical activity.
In order to create my audio story, I interviewed people on how nature is an influence on one’s physical activity. I asked questions specifically about their involvement in sports before college. I asked questions such as “Do you consider yourself physically active?, Do you work out or do any type of physical activity regularly?, Did you play sports in high school?, Do you think that the college environment we are surrounded by has an effect on your physical activity now?, and, Do you think our natural environment that surrounds us has an effect on this?”
After I interviewed those who were able to answer the questions in an honest manner, I then uploaded the interview to Audition. Once I did this, I was able to edit the background noise out and to make the interview as smooth as possible. I cut out the unneeded phrases that made the interview informal and choppy. Once this was done, I edited the Free to use music and was able to manipulate it to sound as an intro and outro to my one-time podcast. The only advice that I wish I would have known before recording would be to always record in a quite space that is not distracting, whether this be the narration or the actual interview.

Hey Lindsey! You have a really strong first draft and I like the topic you chose. I wasn’t familiar with the effects that nature had on someone’s drive to work out and it made me interested to hear what you and your interviewee had to say. One thing I could suggest that would improve your story is to split and cut out the “um’s”, the pauses, etc. to make the audio run more smoothly and to add more professionalism. It sounds like your audio was not edited so that would be my first suggestion. Also, if you want to, this is totally optional, you could cut out one question or something and add a sentence or two to close out your story and give it an ending rather than closing with the interview. I think this would help make it sound more complete. Overall, really good start for your final draft! Good luck!

I loved your audio draft! It has been one of the best ones I have seen so far. One thing I really liked was how you added the music in the beginning and end, it gave it a very fun touch. I also liked the questions you asked your friend for the interview. They were good questions that could reflect on your topic. Something I would definitely cut out is the laughing in-between questions to make it sound more serious. I would also have your friend come closer to the speaker when talking because her voice was a lot more quiet than yours. Overall, I loved the start to your draft!

The music you have in the beginning sounds really good and its a good starting point for your intro. I like how natural your interview sounds. I think as a listener its cool to hear the back and forth dialog. I would suggest that you try asking leading questions that center your theme a little more. I think its really hard to understand the storyline you are trying to follow. Although I think the location you recorded was really effective I can hear all voices clearly. The interviewee talks about going to the gym 3-4 times a week even through obstacles. It would be cool to hear how she is able to manage that. Other than that I think you did a great job I like your overall theme of working out and I enjoyed hearing the Q and A. In addition if you’re able to eliminate random pauses you should.
