Working out is not a new craze within our society but its focus has been heightened recently. It has become popular for people to be active and to stay fit. It has even carried over to social media. For this project, I made an inspirational video about working out. I focused on the idea that working out is good for you and can better ones mental and physical health I did this by focusing on the idea of the outdoors. I focused on my idea “Get Moving and Get Outside”.
For years working out and staying active has been something that many strive for. As a result, many companies try to focus on this idea and the idea of bettering the existence of their company while also helping the planet. Many companies do this through inspirational commercials. This is what inspired me. I tried to create an inspirational video that embodied the idea that working out and getting active can be done in a fun way. I tried to make my video as similar to a Nike ad or any sports ad that strives to inspire. I chose to include shots of nature, showing how getting active can happen anywhere, while also showing a more typical way of getting active. I made use of the aspect ratio, establishing shot and montage.
I started making my video by collecting my videos of nature and past hikes that I had been on. In the past few months and weeks I had been collecting videos and pictures of the nature and activities that I had done and made sure to capture the moment when I did do something outside. I started by putting these into Premiere and organizing the content in a concise way that would make sense in the context of my story and vision for my project. I then added the transitions, titles and music in the background. I ran into many problem with the ukulele music, but was able to work through trial and error.

Hello Lindsey! I really liked your project and it was very interesting to watch. I would suggest including some other audio near the beginning. A slow fade in the music and after a couple of seconds put in some dialogue and maybe describe the places you have gone. I would also suggest doing another physical activity shot near the end of the video. The softball shot is great, but it would awesome to see more! I really think the clips of the outdoors is very strong and I like the movement of the clips as well. I would also consider maybe rerecording your audio. It sounds a little out of tune, but I like what you say with your workout theme. The different locations that you have been to is interesting to see. It gives the sequences a sense of purpose and it keeps you engaged in the video. Great Job!

Hi Lindsey! I really liked your opening shots, the music you used, and the wholesome font you used for your title. The panning shots really work well to inspire the “get outside” part. My first critique is how long the title lingers. I think it would be fine to have it either on screen for the entire video or end with or in the first clip. My second critique is the clip of you swinging the bat really feels out of place, especially since you’re inside and all the other shots are about getting outside. I think instead you could use some of the pictures at the end in between the panning, outdoor clips by making them longer, and maybe playing with the motion effects like we did in the tutorials. Or you could film yourself being active outdoors, doing different activities in different places so it doesn’t focus on one thing for too long.

Hi Lindsey,
Your video is very cute and happy which I really appreciate. I think starting off with the music you could add in some different sound transitions or sound effects to make it less abrupt. The audio of you talking is very echoey. I think a way of fixing that could be to record your audio in a room that has lots of stuff in it so it breaks the echoes up. Echoes tend to occur when audios or videos are taken in a room that is empty or has little nothing in it. I like how you incorporated different pictures of different weather and locations at the end of your video showing the vast options people have to get moving outside. I think the music could fade in and out from when you start talking in from when you finish talking. Also at the very end of the video maybe have the text fade out instead of making the ending to the video abrupt. Other than that I love the idea and I can’t wait to see what you finish with.

Hi Lindsey!
I really liked the use of establishing shots in the beginning of the video, I thought those were really nicely edited together and showed the spirit of what the title said. I think the music is also incorporated really well. That being said, the title does linger on a bit longer than it needs, and I would suggest making the title shorter but keeping the same footage you used. My second suggestion is split in two and has to do with the narration. The narration stops a bit early, and I feel like you could add a bit more during the shot of you swinging the bat. I also don’t know if the echo effect was a stylistic choice or not, but I think it actually has a negative impact on your narration and I think it’d be better without that effect. Other than that, this is really well put-together and you have a solid project here!
